VISIBLE SURGICAL GAUZE

Born to offer a better visibility to the surgical team during the surgery, and to facilitate count of the gauzes.

The unintended retention of gauzes, tools or other equipment in the surgery room represents a very well-known occurrence and famous in literature.
Some factors that can prevent from noticing the conditions are: lack of symptoms, inadequate documentation of diagnosed cases, difficulty in diagnosing and unwillingness to voluntarily report the conditions.
The most used material, considered to be also the most appropriate, are gauzes (medical condition that in literature is called “Gossypiboma” or “Textiloma”) and surgical tools, such as needles, scalpel, electrosurgical generator, forceps or other parts.
The external material can determine different medical scenarios, that can go from asymptomatic cases to cases with severe complications (such as intestinal perforation blood clots, sepsis or organ damage that leads to death). It is reported that there is a death rate between 11% and 35%.
Blue Patch allows a faster and easier respond for the specialists. In its functions in the surgical site we have: hemostatic control resuscitation and surveillance on the bodily fluid, it also becomes a part of the surgery itself as a landmark.
It does not change the protocols in the surgery room.
